New and verifiable data within the 10 year retention schedule must be requested directly from the TxDOT Crash Records office. See http://www.txdot.gov/government/enforcement/data-access.html
• These data files were originally provided by TxDOT in 2012 and 2013, as a courtesy for use by UT (prior to the online request system). The files found online were copied from CD-ROM-RW discs that due to loss and re-copying by borrowers, the library could not verify the data's accuracy. TxDOT does not attempt to verify any information outside of its current retention schedule. In 2012, TxDOT's data retention period was 5 years; state legislation has since changed the retention schedule to 10 years. ~cataloger
